Dr. Carol Quintana has a passion for working collaboratively with people to help them effectively manage emotional difficulties that present themselves in the form of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, emotional dysregulation, and trauma. She enjoys working with adults going through life transitions such as career changes or relationship difficulties including infidelity or divorce. Dr. Quintana is particularly dedicated to working with adults coming to terms with having experienced trauma in their childhood and who now desire to process and heal from old wounds.
Dr. Quintana’s specialization in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and CBT allows her to effectively address a wide variety of psychological issues in individual treatment. She enjoys leading adult DBT skills groups for the satisfaction it brings when participants in conjunction with their individual therapy, are able to move forward and build lives worth living. Dr. Quintana conducts DBT parent groups and also works with families on an individual basis to provide skills on how to manage and support their children who have been diagnosed with serious emotional dysregulation.
Dr. Quintana is a New York and Florida State Licensed Psychologist who has worked clinically with children, adolescents, and adults of varying ages and has experience in treating a wide range of psychological issues. As a bilingual psychologist, Dr. Quintana is able to provide services to both an English and Spanish speaking clientele. Dr. Quintana completed her Master of Science and Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology at Fielding Graduate University based in California. Dr. Quintana undertook her internship at the Roberto Clemente Family Guidance Center in the Lower East Side of New York where she received training in family systems while working with adult clients. She is Foundationally trained in DBT by Behavioral Tech and is a member of the South Florida DBT Consortium. She has completed level two training of Gottman Method couple’s therapy. Dr. Quintana’s certification in Circle of Security Parenting (COSP), an attachment-based approach to parenting education, allows her to help parents effectively address behavioral difficulties with young children from a relationship-focused perspective.
Dr. Quintana joined Dr. Kalsner Silver’s practice in 2016 after four years at the Dr. Helen May Strauss Clinic in Union City, New Jersey where she applied her skills in the treatment of children and adolescents as well as their parents. She also conducted psychological testing and evaluations addressing a variety of concerns in both Spanish and English. Previous clinical training includes two years at the Metropolitan Regional Diagnostic and Treatment Center for childhood physical and sexual abuse in Newark, New Jersey; two years at University Behavioral Healthcare in Newark, Child and Adolescent Services, Outpatient Services; and one year at University Behavioral Healthcare, Piscataway, Children at Risk, Resources and Intervention (CARRI).
